Being a project partner of this customer, KUHNKE not only provided individual components precisely tailored to a specific machine, but also offered comprehensive consultation services to achieve seamless process automation. In one of the fastest and most flexible book binding machines, an especially adapted Ventura IPC with touch panel control operates in conjunction with multiple distributed SPS controls. The IPC is used to provide the user interface and support order processing. The integrated SPS controls up to 80 drives with partly synchronous operation, which are connected via EtherCAT. It also controls the communication between all distributed control and I/O units. Shrinking volumes and constantly changing formats impose high demands on a modern machine and its automation solution. This KUHNKE solutions provides fast motorized adjustment, which results in the required reduced setup times.
