Miniaturized solenoids or highly reliable special linear solenoids are used for locking systems to guarantee secure locking and unlocking.
Access control by means of a solenoid-controlled turnstile

In this application, an especially designed turnstile is used for access control. It features a solenoid, which causes the horizontal barrier to move into a vertical position in order to free the way in case of an emergency condition. KUHNKE decided to use a linear solenoid of the HD8 product line, since it features a service-free anchor, which guarantees the high level of reliability required for this application. Proven HL6 linear solenoids are used for the access control functions of the turnstile.
Electronic door lock with miniaturized solenoids

Hotel rooms and other areas where security is critical are often secured by means as of card operated locking systems, featuring a miniaturized solenoid from KUHNKE. The bi-stable solenoids used for such applications feature two stable end positions representing the locked and unlocked state of the door. They remain in their respective position even without any currant being applied. This means, an electric currant is only required for locking and unlocking the door, which translates into long battery life and long-time reliable operation. This solution with a solenoid does not require any complex electronics, which is required for example for motorized solutions.
